Questions about official Connecticut criminal records belong with the government body that keeps the requested record. Connecticut SPBI handles statewide criminal history products, the Judicial Branch holds court files, CT DOC publishes custody information, and DESPP operates the public registry. Police reports remain with their creating agencies. The routing below distinguishes those systems and points local requests to one of 27 locality hubs. Connecticut has no active county sheriff, county clerk, or county jail system, and this private site cannot act in place of an official office.

This Is Not a Government Office. Connecticut Criminal History is privately operated. We cannot retrieve or correct a record, run an official check, or accept an erasure filing. Contact the official custodian directly.

Need an Official Record?

Use the Connecticut source that created or maintains the record:

  • Court cases: use the Connecticut court case lookup, then contact the appropriate Superior Court clerk through the Judicial Branch for an official file or certified copy
  • Criminal histories and rap sheets: order the correct product from the Connecticut SPBI Criminal Records Unit
  • Current custody: use the Connecticut Department of Correction Offender Information Search for people held in the unified state correctional system
  • Registry entries: use the Connecticut Sex Offender Registry, administered by DESPP's Division of State Police
  • Police and incident reports: ask the municipal, state, campus, tribal, or other police agency that created the report
  • Erasure and Clean Slate matters: follow the Judicial Branch or DESPP route that applies to the specific form of relief
  • Local records: use the Connecticut locality directory to identify the relevant municipality or historical county geography without looking for a nonexistent county-government office

For statewide criminal history requests, the official repository contact is the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, Division of State Police, State Police Bureau of Identification, Criminal Records Unit, 1111 Country Club Road, Middletown, CT 06457, 860-685-8480. Follow the current SPBI mail, CCHRS, appointment, and product instructions before submitting anything.
